• Candidates selected as Engineers/Officers will receive a starting Basic Pay of Rs.50,000/- per month and shall be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 50,000 - 1,60,000. After 1 year they shall be promoted to senior Engineers/Officers and shall be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 60,000 - 1,80,000.

Interview Process

IOCL interview process consist of DV(Document Varification) GD(Group Discussion), GT(Group Task) and PI(Personal Interview). And weightage is divided as -
  GATE Marks - 85%
  GD and GT - 5%
  PI(Personal Interview) - 10%

Interview process will begain with an introductory presentation. They will present about the iocl company, revenue, profit, leaders and their products. All the three process (DV, GD & GT and PI) will heppend simultaneously. Anyone can be called for DV or GD & GT or PI. GD & GT round will take around 40 mins. Teams (for us there were 15 members) will be same for both GD & GT. For GD, panel will give you 3 min to write your points and 10-15 mins to discuss the topic. And they will ask one by one to put their points. For GT, they will divide the teams in 4 part. So each team will have 4 or 3 members. Panel will give you a problem slip and then you will have 10 mins to discuss among yourself and come to solution.

(2) If pressure P is applied in the pipeline then what type of failure can occure ?
(3) How the failure will occure in pipeline. Horizontal or vertical ?
(4) What is hoop stress ? how do you calculate it ?
(5) If pressure P is applied then how will you tell that will it fail or not..? (used a word "strength" while answering)
(6) What do you mean by strength ? (says Yield strength)
(7) What is yield strength and why it is important ?
(8) Do you know iron-carbon diagram.? Tell all the invariant reactions
(9) What is lamination ? ( he didn't know so they gave a hint that it is related to some defect )

(7) You are currently 27 years old. Most of the student who join IOCL are 21 - 23 years old. How will you manage if one of you senior is younger than you ?
(8) What are your positive points ? (he mentioned that he neither smoke nor drink alcohol)
(9) Then how will you enjoy parties.? What will you do if you are in a party with us ?
